Initial Consultation ServiceScope. Bloodlines offers a free one-hour initial consultation to discover whether and to what extent Bloodlines can help, and, when appropriate, will suggest research you can do yourself to reduce costs. If you use this service, you are not obligated to hire Bloodlines to conduct any research, though we hope that you will be so pleased with the thoroughness and professionalism of our evaluation that you will wish to hire us.The purpose of the initial consultation is to clarify what family information you already know, what sources the information is based on, and what you most want to find out as a result of the research. Once the information is gathered and analyzed, Bloodlines will recommend research to be done, and will provide a cost and time estimate for the research. Should you then decide to hire Bloodlines, you can choose which of the recommendations you would like Bloodlines to pursue, can set maximum limits for various research stages to reflect your level of interest in the information sought during those stages, and can otherwise help refine the proposal until it meets your research and budget needs. Information Needed. So that we can make your free consultation as helpful as possible, please specify everything you know (or think you know) about the person or family you would like to research, and what aspects of their lives you would like to know more about. We also need to know what sources (including family oral history) you have already consulted, even if your search was unsuccessful. If you have found source documents pertaining to your family, let us know in what format those sources were -- for example, indexes or full sources, original (or images of the original) or transcribed? The more information you supply regarding what information you have, and where and in what format you found it, the better Bloodlines will be able to evaluate the reliability of the data and to make targeted recommendations, and the more valuable you will find the consultation. Review and Recommend ServiceScope. If you have collected a significant amount of data and paperwork, and you want help organizing it, evaluating it, and identifying avenues of research that you may have overlooked, Bloodlines can help. Similar to our Initial Consultation service, the Review and Recommend service does not include any research, but provides you with an assessment and plan of action. Use our Review and Recommend service if you have a lot of materials to be reviewed, or if you want a more detailed assessment and recommendation.Information Needed. Please provide copies (no originals, please!) of any documents you have gathered during your research, a list of sources you have consulted unsuccessfully, and a family tree or summary of what is known about the family – including unconfirmed family stories that you are trying to verify or disprove. Bloodlines will conduct a comprehensive review, evaluate whether your conclusions are sufficiently supported by the evidence, and provide recommendations for additional research that might profitably be pursued, with or without Bloodlines' help. Where a specific expertise is required that Bloodlines cannot supply, Bloodlines will attempt to provide a referral to a relevant expert. |
